Pixel Raiders

Very proud to announce this upcoming book I've recently illustrated.

Written by ABC3's Good Game presenters Bajo and Hex, it focuses on Rip and Mei and their adventures through multiple digital realms.

This is my first move away from picture books into the world of Children's fiction and I can't think of a better project to be a part of.  I can't share much from it yet, but since the cover has been released online, I figure its fair game.

If you have some young gamers in your life they will definitely get a kick out of this. Available for preorder here.

52 Week Illustration Challenge - Massive dump

So this year I've taken it upon myself to join in the 52 Week Illustration Challenge over on Facebook. Its a great excuse for me to forget about work for a while and just do something for myself for a change. Each week is given the theme and the rest is up to you.

I've been a bit slack in actually posting them on my blog. Its so easy these days to post on FB, or Instagram or whatever. So much so the poor old blog gets overlooked.

Anyway the challenge is now in its 7th week, so here are all my entries up to now. In one great big art dump. Hope you like em :)

Week 1: Fairytale

Week 2: Italy

Week 3: Retro

Week 4: Insect

Week 5: Kitchen

Week 6: Magic

Week 7: Farm

The Mariner's Revenge Song

"We are two mariners
Our ships' sole survivors
In this belly of a whale"

So begins the tale of one of my favorite songs "The Mariner's Revenge Song" by The Decemberists. I would have loved to make an animation based around this song, but that's an ambitious personal project I can't afford to tackle right now.

Instead I'll have to settle for this illustration. If you are unfamiliar with this modern day sea shanty, then please do yourself a favour and check it out here. It comes in at a whopping 10 minutes, but its well worth it.

Enjoy me hearties!

Bedroom Pictures

Seems like I'm always doing something or other for my kids, or promising pieces for them to hang in their bedrooms. This is no exception. The difference with these particular illustrations is that the kids actually got a say in what they wanted AND, more importantly, I've actually followed through with my promise. Looks like Christmas has come early to the Kennett house.
