Laughing, singing, jokes and soaks, Dino-Dads are busy blokes!
If you like cute dinosaurs and their dads being silly goofs then this could be the book for you. It’s bright, breezy, full of simple rhymes and fun illustrations.
Also makes a perfect “one more read” just before bed. π
Available for preorder now. Out July 1st through @scholastic_au
Another monster alert!
“Milly’s family fun” will be the 20th book in the series and will be released alongside her classmate, Zorro, on June 5th.
Families come in all shapes, sizes and configurations. So when the school is planning to celebrate just one family member in particular, Milly feels a little left out.
As always the School of Monsters work together to make sure no one misses any fun!
Fun fact: Once we knew we were going to make another 10 characters, Milly made an early appearance in book 10 “Jess Makes a Mess”. It took a while, but now she’s finally got her moment! Her very own book! Go Milly!
Of course @sallyrippinauthor knocks it out of the park with charm, fun and empathy galore. And thanks to @hardiegrantkids who continue to support us along the way. Special mention to @roman_italic who still manages to find new colour variations for our covers, so we don’t double up. Not even once! π
So after 20 solo books, do you have a favourite character?
Incoming monster alert!
Zorro loves to munch on bugs. The only problem is they have some ..achem… unfortunate side effects.
“Zorro’s Tasty Treat” is book 19 in the School of Monsters series and is released on June 5th along with another classmate. More about her soon.
Written, of course, by @sallyrippinauthor and published by the awesome team at @hardiegrantkids and the first monster title to feature Sally’s excellent laureate sticker! π
June and July will see FIVE books released within a month of each other.
Yes, yes I know that’s ridiculous. But sometimes books created months and months apart, just happen to fall within the same release cycle. It’s a nice problem to have, I’m not going to lie.
The first book in that cycle is the hilarious third adventure for Jakob and his family as they desperately try to end their holiday from hell, and get home.
It’s a perilous road trip adventure, that sees them traverse Australia in a beaten up old Pest-Control van, and avoid terminal embarrassment along the way.

Nathan and I previously worked on The Nerd Herd together and I hope there’s more stories for us in the future!
You can preorder “Road Rage” now and catch up on the two previous adventures from your favourite book sellers!
What’s this? Another cover reveal?! You betcha!
DAD-A-SAURUS! Is my very own picture book with @scholastic_au coming out July 1st, just in time for Fathers Day!
Dad-a-saurs play all sorts of roles in their young Dino’s lives. Making pancakes? Absolutely! Water fights? Oh yes indeed! Farting? Well…yes that too. But that’s not all they do.
Dino Dads are busy blokes and this book covers just some of the characteristics it takes to be a prehistoric Dad in 2024.
It’s available for preorder right now. Ask for it in your local shops or try online if you don’t have a friendly bookseller nearby.
Raaarrauwwwaawww!! That’s dinosaur for “Thank you”
A lovely Sydney catch up with these awesome folks.
@nat_amoore @heyitsjulesfaber @matt.cosgrove @eva.amores @cherylorsini @auraparker discussing what it takes to make illustrators really REALLY mad!
Turns out we’re all a bubbling cauldron of rage! I mean just look at us!
Matt, Cheryl, Aura and I will all be taking part in next months epic illustrator battle for @sydwritersfest
That’s when the gloves really come off! π
Rocket Turtle for funsies.
I’m absolutely delighted to announce that I’ve have been secretly working on a brand new picture book with teaching and internet superstar @iam.mrluke !
The book celebrates the power of imagination and is told with all the love and enthusiasm that you would expect from a Mr Luke project!
It’s been an absolute honour to work with @laurasieveking and the team @scholastic_au to help bring Luke’s debut picture book to life. I can’t wait to share more about it over the coming months.
It’s available for preorder now wherever you buy your books and goes on general sale July 1st.
Hang on, maybe the last two posts were wrong. This is the REAL version of events. Honestly!
Probably.
In book one “A Dog’s Breakfast”, Ed tries desperately to remember how he lost his leg. There are three potential memories, each one as silly and improbable as the other, but which one is true? If any!

OK so maybe in the last post Ed’s memory wasn’t completely accurate. This is the real story of how Ed lost his leg.
I think π€

One of the best parts about working on the Cross Bones series, was when I got to do Ed’s wonderfully silly and extremely unreliable flashbacks sequences.
Told in full comic form, I got to finally embrace the comics from my youth and bring them to the page.

Check out all for cover photos here and then head on over to @our.bookish.days give her a follow and check out a few other recommendations while you’re there.
Thanks Alyssa

On this day 12 years ago.
Monsters were already playing a big part in my publishing journey. Happy to report that there’s still plenty of fuel in the monster tank!
Working on something colourful today.
How does a pirate ship sail across a vast desert? With a few modifications of course!

It’s finally here! Our magnum “Oh-puss!”
Treasure was found, tails were wagged and perhaps even a few tears were shed, across these three epic volumes.
Chart Magnus, Daisy, Ed, Spot and Rover as they traverse raging oceans, twisting rivers and an endless desert to find their ultimate treasure. With more than their fair share of villains along the way. Some of them a lot closer than they realise!
All three volumes are out now. Ask for them wherever you buy your books.

Not many of my books in the airport today. I guess they must all sell out instantly, at least that’s what I tell myself.
But look! It’s nearly Easter and this old/new release is back just in time! Who needs chocolate when you can feast your eyeballs on this?!
Om nom nom!
Cooking up something secret with picture book machine @roryhmatherauthor . A great way to start off day 2 of @westerndownslibraries “WordsOut West” festival.
I snuck around and captured @jacquelineharve @lucasproudfootmusic and Rory in action. @outback_mike was on at the same time as me so I couldn’t snap a photo, but I did get one of his excellent boat!
It’s been a blast up here meeting the lovely locals and the fantastic regional schools. Flying back to Victoria tomorrow for a short rest and more secret book business! π€«
